SinCity Stamps DT Call Submission

It's that time again! Sin City Stamps Formally Sin City Scraps
is having a design team call and here are my submissions!

For this demonstration I will be using:
An Old 33 Record
Tag
Distress Inks
StazOn Inks
Perfect Pearls
Perfect Medium Pen
Stamps
Heat Gun
E6000 glue
Hand Dyed/Scrunched Seam Binding

Today I would like to demonstrate a stamping technique on old 33 records!
I picked up an old record from my local Sally Anne to smash into pieces. It cost me a quarter

I started with a tag and distressed it with Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Black Soot and Fired Brick.
I also stamped my tag with a flower background stamp in Broken China Distress Ink.

With my broken pieces of vinyl record I first tried to heat the
vinyl before stamping with StazOn Inks,
thinking maybe I could get an embossed image.

I succeeded when firmly pressing into the hot vinyl.
To cut my image out of the vinyl record I had to heat and reheat.
The cool thing about the vinyl was you could reheat
it many times and the image would not distort.

Next I decided to  stamp on a piece of the record that was not heated with StazOn Inks.
Here I chose to use White StazOn Ink as it showed up best on the black vinyl.

To cut this image out I used a template of a small tag
and traced around my stamped image.
Next I heated it up to cut my small tag. Each time you cut,
the vinyl warps and when reheated it regains its original
flat surface or you could manipulate it as I did with the dragon fly below.

I decided to color parts of my images with
Perfect Medium and Perfect Pearls.
Here I used purple, blue patina and heirloom gold.

I used E-6000 to adhere my vinyl to the paper and to itself.

I tied seam binding to attach both tags to each other.

Here are my final images from different angles trying to get
the camera to show the ridges of the music engraved in the vinyl.

I hope you enjoyed this demonstration and encourage you to try it out yourself!

    1. This really was fun Robin! you can heat and reheat, it gets floppy and very hot but it can be manipulated/shaped and cut.. if you don't like the shape just reheat to make flat again..
