Metal Gears Journal Cover

 Hello! 

Today I would like to tell you how I made this Journal Cover. 

Supplies used today are :

Mixed Media Supplies Stamps 

Mixed Media Supplies Mica Powders

Mixed Media Supplies Stencils

THoltz Die Gears

Cardstock 

Journal Cover

Inks (distress, versafine black)

Cinnamon
Perfect pearls patina collection

DecoArt Antiquing cream

Gel Medium (any glue will do)
Collage papers
Black marker

 I cut my gears out first and laid them down to paint. 

I used perfect pearls patina silver, green and blue. I dabbed on the powders using a gel medium. 

Next, I pulled out some real cinnamon, again using my medium to stick it to the gears. Lastly, I pulled out my mixed media supplies mica powder in copper to add the shiny bits. 

I let that dry and started with my journal cover. I collaged some vintage papers/text to my journal cover. Then I got my stamps and stencils out and in black ink, I stamped the chain link fence stamp and used the numbers stencil. Then I took the distress inks and went to town. Firebrick red, Broken China oxide, and Peacock feathers distress inks.  Then I used antiquing cream sparingly on the base. 

I took a black Pitt pen and made brick like marks randomly. 

Then I laid my dried gears and I used double-sided foam tape to prop up some of the gears of the background.

Tiny Journal

I love making journals. I also love using premade booklets to customize my own journals. Here is one using the wonderful Micas and digital images that
Mixed Meda Supplies carry.

 I start with a trip to the Dollar Store. You can purchase three of these mini journals for a dollar.

I used this digital image to use as an overlay on my project.

I used chalk paint to do my background. I then sprayed some glitter mist on it.

I used a mix of chalk paint and sealer to coat over my cut outs.

I love my little book and will share the clasp instructions at a later date. Thank you for visiting!

My turn on the blog today and I decided to do a Journal page 

My cousin had posted this picture on Instagram and I loved it (It actually looks like her and she loves all animals)

I've made a YouTube Video of the process - which is pixelated if anyone can help please leave me a comment so I can sort it out (I've tried everything to fix the issue) 

You can still watch the video it's only a little annoying

I started by adding book paper across the centre of the page tearing it up randomly but keeping the edges of the pages to the straight edges of the rectangle

I used a lined stencil across the middle of the page just on the book paper

I used the Copper Bronze and Sapphire Blue Mica Powder's on the back ground mixing it with water and dripping it down the lines 

I used the Diamond Fence Rubber Stamp randomly over the page

With the Sapphire Blue I made it darker to make it look like the little bird was flying to her

The paper flowers I painted with the Shimmer Pearl and Coral Reef Mica Powder just with a touch of water and when I started drying them the paper started to fluff up so it gave them some dimension

I loved this quote and it's why I added all the extra birds to the page

My turn on the blog and this project was lots of fun

I was lucky enough to get a few bits for Christmas and  one was an

owl stencil of course I had to find a way to use it

  

 

I used the Copper Bronze and Coral Reef Mica Powder randomly over a plastic frame that I had

painted with gesso earlier I then used some Frank Garcia Artisan powder rubbed

into the grooves of the frame to give it the patina look

 

 

I stencilled the owl then used water colour paints and cut him out so I could

raise him up out of the frame

 

 

The background paper I used from one of the Digital Printable Journal Pages we

have on the site I printed it off onto a card stock to add more texture

 

 

I added some lace in the background as well some time the photos don't show

all the details doesn't matter how many you take

 

 

And of course flowers are always needed with lots of other little details

Houses in a Row by Suzanne

 

Hi Everyone Suzanne here for my first post for the new year

 I hope you all had a safe and happy start to it

I got these little houses and decided to decorate them with the Digital Journal Printable Pages 

that I printed out on textured cardstock

 

 

I used 4 different stencils that I thought looked simular to bricks then I used the 4 different Mica Powders Shimmer Pearl , Coral Reef, Sapphire Blue and Copper Bronze

 

 

The base I covered with green paint mixed with white sand and green paint

it took a while to dry but once it did it looked great with the texture





 

I added little flowers around to make it look like little flowers growing out the

front of the gardens of the houses

Even though Christmas is over I the trees still needed something so I

added little pearls for a little shimmer

 

With the backs of the houses I thought I couldn't leave them just timber so

I used some of the texture paste and patted it down so it gave it some texture

and then dripped the mica powders down the back as well

Brag Book by Suzanne Franin

I made this little Brag Book which will have photos added when the owner gets it

All the papers are from the Digital Journal pages which I printed on some textured paper

I stamped using the some of the textured rubber stamps that we also have in the Store

When I stenciled the pattern on I used crackle paste, once it dried I added a mix of watered down mod podge and the Coral Mica Powder so it would stay on the project

I used some of the Coral Mica Powder and added the ends of the ribbon to it for some added colour

I added a few embellishments, I didn't add too much as it would make it to bulky

Mixed Media Mini Canvas by Debi Tullier

I love the Pouring of acrylics that is so popular right now. So I decided to try in a similar media.
I took mini canvases instead of pour acrylics, I decided to drop and roll the canvas to make my creation.

I started with blank mini canvases. I love the fun I had "mixing" my paints.

I used liquid acrylic paint to make my background.

Swirl, Swirl and then the background comes together!

I layered over the paint with Mixed Media Bark Background stamp

I used some metallic molding paste that I had on hand to layer over the paint and stamping. I used a gold and black ink pad.

I then placed one of Mixed Media's digital images onto my canvas to pull it all together.

I used the Geese and Tree Silhouette Stamp as my focal point. I also used some of my Playcolor Tempera sticks to tint the edges. I love the overall look and think I may make it a book cover.

Altered Heart

I'm excited to be back for another Mixed Media Design Team post.... I hope you'll find this a fun project!

Not your traditional colors for this time of the year.... but oh, these digital journal pages were perfect for my "faux wood" heart.

You'll need:
cardboard
paper template, pencil, ruler
masking tape.
printed journal pages (Mixed Media Supplies)
Scissors
Craft knife
Mod Podge® (matte - PlaidOnline.com)
Foam brush (1 inch wide)
digital cutting machine (for words - Sizzix® eclips2 & eCal2)
Lumiere paint,
Mica (blue - Mixed Media Supplies)
Journey Glaze (Fun Stampers Journey)
Glue (Scotch® Brand Quick Dry)

Open the digital journal pages from Mixed Media Supplies.  I did resized and used only one page per printed sheet.  The images were perfect and the resolution was not distorted when I resized to a full sheet printed either landscape or portrait format. 

Cut desired sentiment on your cutting machine.  I chose blessings beyond measure for mine.  Be sure to weld all the letters together if you want one solid word.  The "s" in mine is separate...

Draw a heart shape on the paper.  Cut the shape out and trace onto the cardboard.  Cut the shape using the craft knife.  I didn't want open edges on the sides, so I used masking tape to "seal" the edges as shown in the image below.

Using the paper template, create your design to piece using the printed papers. Number each section and because I something get things turned around, I added an arrow pointing to the top of the cut. 

Cutting one piece from the template at a time, I placed the journal page face down and the template piece face down and traced.  Cut using fine tipped scissors or a craft knife.

Apply a bit of Mod Podge on your cardboard and place your journal page piece in place.  Make sure all edges are sealed.  You can apply a light coat of Mod Podge to the top of the journal page now or wait.  Repeat as needed using the remaining template pieces and Mod Podge. 

Let dry overnight.  Apply a coat of Mod Podge over the entire front of the piece.  Let dry.  I had a couple of areas that I wanted to add a little more distress to, so I sanded them just a little.

The Lumiere paint was next and with a small brush, I put a little bit here and there and around the edges of the entire heart for a little 'glow.'  I also used the paint on the lettering.  Let dry.  Glue the lettering as desired on the front of the heart.

Add some additional bling if desired with some mica and small accent pieces using some Glaze.  Let dry and sign your creation!
